DANDENONG RANGERS PRIMARY SCHOOL CLINICS

Dandenong Basketball, would like to introduce you to the Dandenong Rangers Primary
Schools Clinics.
The concept has been developed in conjunction with Southern Health, Greater Dandenong's Community Health Service, and Education Institutions and is aimed at encouraging schools to help promote a healthy lifestyle through the sport of basketball.

This program involves free basketball clinics being held at your school with players from the Dandenong Women's National Basketball League coming out to coach the children in various skills work and provide tips on healthy lifestyle options.
The clinics will be held over a 4 week block with each lasting up to 1 hour in duration and is aimed at students from grade 3 to 6. Group sizes of between 40 & 60 are preferable and multiple groups per school can be arranged. At the end of the 4 weeks, students take home with them a pack containing various merchandise as well as information about leading a healthy lifestyle. Teachers will also receive a resource pack to use with the children that outlines healthy choices and tips.

This program provides a great opportunity for your students to enjoy the the sport of basketball and potentially lead them on the path of active participation in organized sport, as well as learning about leading a healthy lifestyle.
If you would like to find out further information about this program, you can contact Clare Papavs on (03) 9794 7192

CONNECT EAST POSITIVE CHOICES PROGRAM

The Dandenong Basketball Association and ConnectEast Group, the owner and operator of EastLink, are
proud to announce a new 'Positive Choices' initiative which targets 14-17 year olds and the choices they are faced with when it comes to travelling in cars - for example, alcohol, fatigue, speed, distractions, road conditions, inexperience and the condition of their vehicle. Together, the Dandenong Basketball Association and ConnectEast are committed to raising awareness levels amongst secondary school students about the value of making positive choices both on and off the road. Safe roads and safe driving are of paramount concern to ConnectEast, demonstrated by the fact that EastLink is already established as one of Victoria's safest roads.

We are offering to conduct a presentation aimed at providing years 9 & 10 students with the knowledge to make positive choices in life, set goals and reduce the risks and consequences of dangerous driving and behaviour. The Dandenong Basketball Association and ConnectEast would like to extend an invitation to your school to take part in a Positive Choice presentation FREE OF CHARGE! The 1 hour presentation will:

  • Provide the students with the information and knowledge to make good road safety decisions and become leaders in positive decision-making. The Road Safety presentation will be delivered by experienced presenters from RoadSafe South-East.
  • Assist the students in regards to the importance of setting goals for the futture and how to stay motivated to see them through. The goal-setting presentation will be delivered by a member of the Dandenong Jayco Rangers Women's National Basketball League Team.
