As we approach this Sunday’s State Government announcements with anticipation we, like every other community sporting association, are anxious but cautious in announcing dates for a return to competition.
Should announcements be favourable the road map going forward for DBA will be clear.
We appreciate our neighbouring associations may jump the gun and return to competition early. At DBA we are fully supportive of Basketball Victoria’s approach, which is to be mindful of the fitness & conditioning of our athletes, both junior and senior.
From our earliest possible start date and throughout December our focus will be on a ‘return to training’ inclusive of strength & conditioning programs, perhaps organised scratch matches and the complete try-out phase of our Junior Rangers program.
As everyone knows, to represent the Junior Rangers a player must be registered to, and play, in our Junior Domestic competition. So if you wish to represent the Rangers make sure you register with a domestic club that can facilitate you playing domestic basketball at Dandenong.
Our planning allows for Summer Competitions for both Junior & Seniors commencing mid-January 2021.
We are also pleased to confirm that the Eltham-Dandenong Australia Day weekend tournament will go ahead.
The tournament will commence on Sunday 24th January 2021 and will conclude on Australia Day. Domestic basketball will be played on Saturday 23rd January 2021, this time aroumd.
In support of our domestic teams and clubs the court hire fee will be discounted to $25 per hour for the remainder of this year, and we anticipate court hire bookings will be open from Monday 23rd November 2020, pending favourable announcements.
Please stay across our website and social media platforms from Sunday for further details. In the meantime stay safe and we hope to see you all at Dandenong Stadium very soon.
