Dandenong Basketball is thrilled to be joining Basketball Victoria’s upcoming Mental Health Round initiative, raising funds to support Lifeline Australia’s incredible work in the Victorian community.
Protecting and taking care of your mental health has never been more important after a trying 12 months for Victorians, with lockdowns, restrictions and the absence of sport all taking its toll. Just like on the court, it’s important to have support when things aren’t going your way and organisations like Lifeline Australia do exactly that for those in need.
To help champion this initiative we are inviting the entire DBA Community to wear something orange during domestic, VJBL, Big V and NBL1 competitions as a part of this June 25-27th Mental Health Round and encourage donations to support Lifeline Australia during another trying time for Victorians.
DBA will follow up this weekend’s events with our own NBL1 Mental Heath Round event the following Saturday, with fundraising activiations planned to support this important cause.
You can now donate direct to Lifeline via SMS throughout this week, to donate text NBL1 to 0488 822 250.
We encourage anyone experiencing mental health difficulties to reach out to Lifeline Australia or to utilize the services of DBA’s own Jenny Phillips & Miranda Blok, who both serve as our association’s Chaplains & Well Being Officers.
Jenny has an extensive background and years of experience in the area of pastoral care, including within multi-faith and culturally diverse communities and Miranda brings her years of experience of coaching and supporting people in a professional environment to help improve their mental health and general well-being.
We encourage the DBA community to lean on our Chaplaincy services if they at any time find themselves faced with challenging life circumstances or struggling emotionally. Our Chaplains are committed to providing sustainable care strategies for individuals/teams, providing a safe confidential space where individuals can access support, proved care for people in distress, help individuals and clubs navigate grief & loss and supporting the association in building a strong, healthy community.
To get in touch with Jenny please email email@example.com or call 0401 438 425 (Jenny) or 0402 037 085 (Miranda).
