RANGER WOMEN VS. SANDRINGHAM – TIP OFF 6:00PM

Both Dandenong and Sandringham Women’s squads will be hungry for a W today with our Rangers coming into today with a 1-4 record in their last five games and the Sabres similarly reeling as they’ve gone 2-3.

Today’s clash will feature a clash between two Southside Flyers teammates as our own Emilee Harmon goes up against former Opal and Sabres star Rachel Jarry in what should be a tantilsing contest. The Sabres also feature Amy O’Neill and Brittany Smart in their backcourt, two more WNBL stars ready to take it our Ranger Women.

We’ll meet them head on with two big inclusions today however with Sherry Glennie and Clare Camac returning. These two veterans form a very important part of our core team and they’ll no doubt be a steadying influence for some of the young Rangers. With Clare patrolling the perimeter and Sherry helping Em Harmon out on the glass the Rangers should be a real chance today. Lock the paint down and we should be able to protect homecourt against Sandringham!

RANGER MEN VS. SANDRINGHAM – TIP OFF 8:00PM

The Sabres will come into today’s contest flying high after two big wins last round but our Ranger Men are ready to shine at home, battling hard last week and splitting their two contests and getting their second win of the 2022 NBL1 season.

After a rough start our Ranger Men seem to be really gelling as a team, now in clearly identified roles and developing rhythm on offense. The key to today’s contest and going forward will be bringing four-quarter energy on defense however. Too often we find ourselves down early or slipping in key spots, forced to play catch up basketball and coming up just short of their opponents. With plenty of length on the team, including Puoch Puoch, Dyson King-Hawea and Buay Jok, there’s no reason why we can’t contest every shot and start our defense from the tip.

The play of Puoch Puoch will be of particularly importance today as he no doubt gets the job on Sabres forward David Okwera, tasked with keeping Okera off the glass and out of the paint where he has done damage for the Sabres this season. Keep Okera and the rest of the Sabres out of the paint and this is a contest that could easily be a W for our Ranger Men.
