Dandenong Basketball is excited to announce the signings of Brittany Smart and Tenaya Phillips to our Senior Women’s team for the 2020 NBL1 South season.
They will join Bec Cole & Aimie Clydesdale in what will be a formidable perimeter rotation for our Rangers, likely one of the best in the entire NBL1 competition.
Multi-time Rangers SEABL champion Tenaya will be returning to Dandenong for the first time in four years after seasons with Sandringham and Frankston, while Brittany Smart will play her first-ever NBL1 season in Rangers green after a WNBL campaign with the Sydney Uni Flames.
Rangers Head Coach Lloyd Klaman stated that he’s thrilled to have both players on board for 2020, knowing that they’ll both bring positive & professional attitudes to the team environment.
“Tenaya & Brittany are both quality people and terrific players that will assist with our growth on & off-the-court”, said Klaman.
“For Tenaya it’s exciting to see her come home to Dandenong, a returning Junior Ranger and AIS star who’s ready to have a big season. An amazing athlete who can create off-the-dribble and get to the basket, Tenaya will make some highlight reel plays throughout the season and continue to develop at just 25 years old.”
“With Brittany we add the ultimate professional. Despite an injury plagued WNBL season Brittany finished as the top scorer for the Flames in 3 of their last four games, looking once again like the elite player she has been at both WNBL & SEABL level. She will be a rock for the team on & off-the-court and will provide some strong veteran leadership for some of our younger stars.”
The NBL1 Ranger Women’s lineup now consists of Aimie Clydesdale, Bec Cole, Louella Tomlinson, Tenaya Phillips and Brittany Smart, with more signings to be announced over the next few weeks.
