After two big wins in our last outing the NBL1 Rangers Men & Women will be looking to build some more momentum in Sunday’s outing, taking on the Ballarat Miners in what’s sure to be two thrilling contests.

RANGER WOMEN VS. BALLARAT – TIP OFF @ 2:00PM

After the Queen’s Birthday break our Ranger Women are ready to take it to the rest of the NBL1 South, bringing in some momentum after a strong win against the Frankston Blues last round. Now with a healthy roster after some early outs the Rangers looked dangerous against one of the league’s most talented teams in that game and managed to beat the Blues in a nailbiter.

They’ll now take on a hurting Ballarat Miners squad who come off two straight losses and will be looking to avoid a third against our Rangers. With a young core led by Jade Melbourne and Zitina Aokuso the Miners have been up and down during 2022, to be expected of a young team. When Zitina uses her strength and physicality inside the paint the Miners look like a very potent offensive team so we’ll no doubt have her play in our sights on defense in this clash.

We’ll also need to utilize our experience and savvy at the defensive end, exploiting the mistakes of a younger team and keeping the scoreboard pressure up. If Emilee Harmon can get enough help from her teammates on defense our Rangers should be able to grab the W and continue their positive momentum heading into the second half of the NBL1 South season.

RANGER MEN VS. BALLARAT – TIP OFF @ 4:00PM

Today our Ranger Men battle one of the NBL1’s top teams, taking on the 2nd placed Ballarat Miners who have won four of their last five outings. But before Ranger fans start panicking remember that we faced exactly this test in our last outing against Frankston at home and managed to hand them a loss and forced the Blues back down the standings.

They accomplished that victory by matching the Blues shot-for-shot in a shooutout, eventually surpassing Frankston in an overtime thriller. We got big performances by Lawson Eales and Ellis Biggar in the paint who really stepped up in the absense of Dyson King-Hawea, and the team as a whole did a superb job containing Blues import Dillon Stith.

To defeat the Miners they’ll have to do a similar defensive job on Miners import Jalon Miller who has the potential to light up any team he plays against. Keeping him from finding open looks and forcing him out of rhythm will be key to a Rangers win and something we are definitely capable of doing. Rebounding and protecting the paint will also be very important and if we see Biggar and Eales fire again then this contest should be another nailbiter.
