RANGER WOMEN VS. HOBART WOMEN – TIP OFF 6PM

After a tough, injury-filled weekend in Round 5 our Rangers Women will be hungry for victory on Saturday, taking on a Hobart Chargers squad that sit one spot below them on the NBL1 South ladder.

The Chargers picked up their first win of the season last week against the Diamond Valley Eagles, far too strong at home for the young Eagles. WNBL stars Maddie Garrick and Ellie Collins combined for 57 points in that matchup and will look to a similar blueprint as they go for two in a row against our Rangers.

As mentioned above it was a difficult round of NBL1 basketball for our Ranger Women last week, falling to the Blues at home on the Saturday, picking up injuries to Tenaya Sooalo and Emilee Harmon, and then losing to Melbourne in a tight battle on the Sunday.

While Tenaya will unfortunately miss this contest Emilee Harmon is a likely in, with our young core needing her strong inside presense if they are to take this victory. Should Emilee have a big game inside the paint our Rangers will be right in this one, combining with young guns Dallas Loughridge, Kodie Myszka and Elly Morgan.

The major worry for the Rangers will be the play of Maddie Garrick. So far this season we have struggled to deal with some elite NBL1 wings and Garrick certainly matches that profile. Stopping her slicing up the Rangers defence will be a big priority for Dandenong Women’s coach Mason Rogers.

RANGER MEN VS. HOBART MEN – TIP OFF 8PM

The NBL1 Men’s contest is shaping up to be a real shootout as we go into battle with the fiery Hobart Chargers at Dandenong Stadium. Our Ranger Men will be feeling good after getting off the mark last Sunday against the Tigers but they’ll have their hands full tonight with the Chargers coming off a W that featured 17 3PT makes.

Seven of those deep threes were made by Hobart guard Jonathan Mines who lit the Diamond Valley Men up for 32 points. Our Ranger Men will no doubt be working to contain his fire from tip off as we attempt to utilize our own weapons on offense.

One of those weapons is dominant big man Ollie Hayes-Brown who continued his double-double streak to start the season last week, earning NBL1 Player of The Week honours for his tremendous play in both Round 5 outings. Strong inside and outside the paint, Ollie has formed a brilliant pairing with Sean Macdonald this season.

Sean continues to lead the Rangers offense in his combo guard role, helping us get great looks and working to feed the ball inside to Ollie and the rest of the Rangers bigs. If we can continue to get great offensive flow tonight we’ll be in an excellent position to match the Chargers shot-for-shot in an entertaining battle.
