The Board of Directors and Management of Dandenong Basketball Association Inc. (DBA) has reached agreement with South East Leisure Pty. Ltd. (SEL) on a Stadium User Agreement for both the Dandenong Stadium and the Springers Leisure Centre.

Negotiations have been difficult and protracted over the past eighteen (18) months with SEL presenting their first draft Stadium User Agreement on Tuesday 31st May 2022.

Final agreement was reached late on Sunday 26th June 2022.

The Stadium User Agreement is beneficial to both parties and our Board of Directors and Management looks forward to working with SEL to provide the best basketball experience for our members, participants and visitors.

The changeover of Stadium Management will take place this Friday 1st July 2022, ending our thirty (30) year history managing Dandenong Stadium. Elite Stadium Management and Events will cease to operate.

Whilst this change may have some sadness, our proud history is intact.

Thirty (30) years of highlights including WNBL and SEABL Championships; Youth League and Junior Ranger successes; the growth of our Domestic Competitions; the Association of the Year Awards; the hosting of tournaments and events; and the continued success of the Eltham Dandenong Junior Basketball Tournament over the Australia Day weekend will continue to be celebrated.

There have been many significant contributors. Life Members, Associate Members, administrators, players, coaches, referees, domestic clubs and teams, sub committees and volunteers. All have made DBA an Association to be proud of.

A new chapter in DBA’s history begins Friday with a real sense of optimism and excitement as we return to our core business – basketball.

We acknowledge the Management and Staff of Volleyball Victoria for the valued working relationship that we have enjoyed over recent years.

We also acknowledge SEL for their willingness to negotiate the best possible outcome for our Association and in working toward a smooth transition.

To our basketball community, we will continue to strive to provide the best possible competitions, excellent development of our players, coaches and referees, and to ensure that our Association improves, develops and enhances a positive culture, and above all else remains financially sustainable for the next thirty (30) years.

Finally, to all of our staff, and especially those that have contributed to stadium operations, reception, canteen, maintenance and cleaning we say a huge thank you and wish you all the very best as you transition to SEL. We look forward to the future, and grateful for the past.

Sincerely,

Dale Wood – President
Larissa Anderson – General Manager

For and On Behalf of the Dandenong Basketball Association Inc.
