Two Ranger Favourites And An NBL1 Highlight Machine Set To Join NBL1 Rangers Men In 2020

DBA is excited to announce that Lucas Barker, Joshua Oswald and Josh Sykes have signed with our Senior Men’s program for the 2020 NBL1 South season.

Long-time Ranger favourites Lucas Barker and Joshua Oswald will re-join the team after successful 2019 campaigns here in Dandenong, while US import Josh Sykes comes to us after driving and dunking on opposition squads with the Eltham Wildcats last year.

This season will be a special one for many reasons but for one in particular for Lucas Barker, who will celebrate his 10th year with our Senior Men’s program after getting the call up from the Junior Rangers when he was just 16 years old. He’ll be joined by friend and teammate Joshua Oswald who will continue to bring the veteran leadership and presence that he has been known for during his time in Dandenong.

Rangers’ fans can expect a different sort of presence from Josh Sykes in 2020 if his 2019 Wildcats season is any indicator, with the atmosphere turning electric whenever he touched the ball with an open lane to the hoop. Whether it was an alley-oop, putback dunk or fast-break denial Josh had even his opponents watching him in awe last season, something we know Rangers fans will love in the new NBL1 South season.

With these three stars on board and Darren Perry returning to the coaching helm DBA CEO Stephen Walter stated that he feels our Men’s program is on track for a big year, with plenty more big signings to come.

“We’ve got some great leadership in place, returning stars and with new & exciting talent on board, this is shaping up to be a season to remember for Rangers fans”, said Walter.

“Darren’s done such a fabulous job in leading our Senior Men for so long and with the group he’s assembled I think we’ll be in for a most positive NBL1 South season. I can’t wait to see a packed Dandenong Stadium rally around what’s going to be a very entertaining team in 2020. We also look forward to our NBL1 Players fully engaging with our basketball community, including our Domestic Clubs and Junior Ranger teams.”

The Dandenong Rangers NBL1 season will tip off here at Dandenong Stadium on Sunday April 19th with membership & ticketing information to be released soon.
